29 Things That Make Me Ridiculously Happy

Today is my 29th birthday.

I thought it would be fun to take a minute and think about all of the things that make me happy. There are so many more than 29, but here are a few that are particularly special to me at this point in my life.

1. My Awesome Husband

I could go on and on about this guy but I'll keep it simple. He's sweet, hard working, serious about the things that he loves, hilarious and all mine. So very thankful for him today and every day.

2. My Family

Not only my parents and my brother, but my extended family, the family I married into and the friends that have become my family. Sometimes I cannot even handle how many amazing people that I have in my life.

3. Puppies

The three of my own and literally all of the others in the world.

4. Coffee

Can't live a day without it. I have even designed a series of coffee mugs because my love is so strong.

5. My Home

Mark and I went out on a limb in June of 2015 and purchased a run-down home from the 1940's in a small town called Pinetop where he grew up. We've since remodeled the place (thanks to him and his incredibly talented dad) and it couldn't possibly be more perfect. Every last detail warms my heart every day, and I honestly can't even believe that this is where I get to live.

6. Making Things

Drawing, sewing, painting, knitting, designing and crafting. I've loved making things since I was a kid, and I only wish there were more hours in the day to pursue my many passions!

7. Plaid

Enough said.

8. Toms

If I could own every style of Toms, I for sure would.

9. Hand-Lettering

Although many of my hand-lettering attempts end up unsuccessful, I have found a real love for the art and love seeing the work of other artists.

10. Fall

Since my birthday is a few days after the first day of fall, this season has always spoken to my heart. When I was a kid, fall meant going to the Pumpkin Show in Circleville, having a block party on Halloween and decorating the house with all kinds of pumpkin things. I still get just as excited for this season as an adult.

11. Hiking

I've hiked some beautiful mountains, some tough mountains, and a few times hiked 7 mountains in just one day. But to me, hiking is all about an amazing experience with people you love.

12. Books

I am quite notorious for buying a ton of books and never getting around to reading them. But there is still a special kind of joy in looking around a bookstore and picking up a new book.

13. Traveling

14. Glasses

I hope to one day have an amazingly extensive collection of frames.

15. The Holidays

As hectic as they may be, to me, there is nothing better than getting together with people you love, wearing your holiday getup and enjoying some time together.

16. Boots

We all now that the first time each year that it's cold enough to wear boots is a very special day!

17. The Peanuts

I've had a special place for Charlie, Lucy, Linus and Snoopy in my heart every since I was a kid.

18. Crossfit

Maybe Crossfit doesn't always make me ridiculously happy. The weights are heavy, the workouts are tough, and the struggle is real. But nothing compares to the strength I have gained and the friends that I've made doing this crazy shit day in and day out.

19. Music

Hip-Hop, classic rock, gangsta rap, acoustic covers, a little country and some catchy pop; there's a time and a place for all of it in my life.

20. Running My Own Business

I still pinch myself each day that I get to grow Darling Savage Designs and share my creativity with the world.

21. Pinterest

How did I even live before Pinterest? Seriously.

22. O-H-I-O

The state, the university, the football. This was the first time Mark went to an OSU game. He's been converted ever since!

23. Baking

Although, things often don't turn out as planned.

24. Watching Gilmore Girls

25. My Sweet Niece and Nephews

26. Meeting Amazing People at Arts & Craft Shows

After every show, I am blown away by the amount of kind, authentic and amazing people I meet. I get taken back by how many people resonate with my work and how many people I get to connect with simply because I created my business.

27. Looking at Christmas Lights

There is nothing better than driving around with your best girlfriends, sipping some coffee and checking out Christmas lights. This photo is circa 2008!

28. The Color Green

Those you know me very well know that I can't stand the color pink and I love all green everything.

29. Living This Life

Here's to 29 awesome years and many more amazing experiences to come.
